Located just a few blocks away from The Bittersweet Inn, Historic Main Street is the place to go for apparel and clothing stores, arts and crafts shops, florists, gift shops, home decor stores, jewelers, and many restaurants and bars. In addition to the many shops and restaurants, there are also many festivals throughout the year.
The Lewis and Clark Boathouse and Nature Center
Located in Historic St. Charles, The Lewis and Clark Center is a certified site on the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. There are many exhibits on the Lewis and Clark Trail, historic St. Charles, and the Missouri River. The Lewis and Clark Center also offers tours and living history demonstations.

Katy Trail
Katy Trail
A bike trail stretching across 225 miles of Missouri, the Katy Trail follows Lewis and Clark's path on the Missouri River. It was formerly the MKT railroad line. Activities include hiking, walking, running, or bicycling. Horseback riding is also allowed on some points of the trail.
First Missouri State Capitol
Missouri's first state capitol building was located in historic St. Charles. It was a temporary building used from 1821-1826 to convert Missouri's government system to a progressive state system. Activities include tours, exhibitions, and an orientation show, all of which are available to tourists.

The Foundry Art Centre is a rich cultural resource center located in the St. Charles Area. It is an interactive art center specializing in contemporary visual and performing arts. Different exhibitions are on display throughout the year.
